Now We Know Why Jen Hatmaker is Gay-Affirming. Her Daughter is a Lesbian.

-

Several years ago, Jen Hatmaker, popular “Christian” podcaster and speaker and besties with Beth Moore, came out as gay affirming in an interview with Jonathan Merritt. The revelation was a shock to many, but unsurprising to the discernment community who already knew that Hatmaker’s theological bent was far to the left. Nonetheless, her new-found affirmation of sodomy sent shockwaves through the Christian community even causing LifeWay Bookstores to pull her materials.

An interesting phenomen among the left-leaning Christian-in-name-only camp is that one can appear to be orthodox in theology, have a passion about sharing the love of Christ, but as soon as persecution hits, they cave and crumble to the whims of the culture because, well, they really aren’t Christian anyway.

It is now abundantly clear why Jen Hatmaker has come out gay-affirming — she hates her daughter. In fact, she hates her daughter so much that instead of being willing to lay down her own reputation, her own pride, and her own self-satisfaction to see her daughter have an opportunity to hear the truth of the gospel and respond to it, she instead lies to her daughter and gives her false hope while affirming her affront to God.

Hatmaker revealed in a recent podcast episode that her daughter is a lesbian. That means, instead of living a life glorifying to God, she has been given up to dishonorable passions and exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature, as Romans 1:26 says. In what Hatmaker dubs “a moment of pride,” she said she knew her daughter, Sydney, was a lesbian when she was 12 years old.

Sydney explained during the podcast that it was a “terrible day” when she read a book by a pastor who said he didn’t know where he landed on homosexuality but concluded by the Scriptures that it was a sin. She said that it “destroyed” her and caused her to have a “full meltdown.”

Hatmaker then went on to say that churches are filled with homosexuals and that it is “irresponsible” of pastors to preach in such a way that leads them to believe that homosexuality is sinful because it “breaks their hearts.”

“I mean, there’s sociologists theorizing that up to like ten percent of the population could be gay or trans,” Sydney says to her mom, “You know what I mean? They’re in your church, they’re in your family. It doesn’t matter how loving you are, or what emphasis on Scripture you come with. That’s not enough if you’re not fully accepting them as children of God.”

By the way, did you know Reformation Charlotte has a Christian gear and apparel store? Check it out at ReformedGear.com.

Because, sociology — and not Scripture — is what the Church needs to be proclaiming? If this reveals anything, it is that there is an urgent need to purge not just the sexually immoral, but those who approve of them from the ranks of the Church.

Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them. — Romans 1:32
