Francis Chan made headlines earlier this year when he began to tour the country assaulting biblical Christianity partnering up with several compromised groups that call themselves “Christian” including the New Apostolic Reformation and Roman Catholics.
Chan is a graduate of both John MacArthur’s Master’s University and Seminary, an unusually solid, seminary that teaches rightly on such important doctrines as the sovereignty of God, the inerrancy of Scripture, and the cessation of the apostolic sign gifts. He was the founder and former pastor of Cornerstone Community Church in Simi Valley, California. Chan is now a well-known conference speaker, regularly preaching alongside questionable, at best charismatics such as Mike Bickle of IHOPKC and many others.
Chan, despite his solid theological educational background, is highly compromised. Earlier this year in April, at an ecumenical gathering of charismatics and Catholics, Chan removes his shoes on stage while several Catholic priests pray over him. At the same event, Chan declines to share the gospel with a Catholic, stating “I don’t believe the Holy Sprit wants me to.”
Chan also regularly partners with charismatic New Apostolic false prophets and false teachers like Todd White, calling them “great men of God” despite the fact that they’ve led so many people astray. All in all, it’s a good rule of thumb to avoid such men as Francis Chan, for they serve their own appetites.
Now, Chan has announced he will be moving to Myanmar, an Asian country situated between India and Thailand, to instead, poison the fish over there. “This will be my last chapel message,” Chan states, “my family and I will be moving to Asia in February.”
I feel like I’ve been fishing in the same pond my whole life and now there’s like thousands of other fisherman at the same pond. And our lines are getting tangled and fighting over stupid things …
“Stupid things,” like sound doctrine, the sufficiency of Scripture, and salvation by grace alone through faith alone. Those kinds of “stupid things”?
What if I heard of a lake that’s like a five-mile hike away and no one’s fishing it? And they’re saying man the fish are biting just throw a hook in there and they’ll go for it. Man I’ll make that five-mile hike if I love fishing.
Only problem is Chan’s bait is tainted with poison — it isn’t the true gospel.
If you were to die today, where would you go? Heaven? Hell? Not sure?
