Alabama Public Television Will Not Air Gay Arthur Episode

-

Last week, Reformation Charlotte reported that PBS popular kids show, Arthur, would airing an episode featuring Arthur’s teacher, Mr. Ratburn, engaging in a homosexual affair and wedding ceremony. TV Line reported,

Here are two things you probably didn’t know: First, the animated children’s series Arthur is still on the air, entering its 22nd season on PBS Kids. Second, Arthur’s teacher — the well-read, well-dressed, well-liked Mr. Ratburn — is gay.

Since PBS is taxpayer-funded, conservatives and Christians complained that their tax dollars were going to support an agenda that was contrary to their moral standards, and rightly so. The government has no business indoctrinating children with gay propaganda.

One state, which has taken a strong conservative stance on abortion recently, is now saying that it will not air the episode featuring the gay propaganda. NBC News reports,

Mike McKenzie, director of programming at APT, told NBC News on Monday that PBS sent a message to stations in mid-April alerting them “to possible viewer concerns about the content of the program.” After he and others at APT viewed the episode, they decided not to broadcast it and showed a re-run instead.

McKenzie said the network has no plans to air it.

“Parents have trusted Alabama Public Television for more than 50 years to provide children’s programs that entertain, educate and inspire,” McKenzie said in a statement. “More importantly — although we strongly encourage parents to watch television with their children and talk about what they have learned afterwards — parents trust that their children can watch APT without their supervision. We also know that children who are younger than the ‘target’ audience for ‘Arthur’ also watch the program.”

McKenzie also said if they aired it, APT would take away the choice of parents who felt it was inappropriate for their children.
