Phil Johnson Asks Direct Questions to Albert Mohler on Social Justice

During the Q&A Panel at the 2019 Shepherds’ Conference at John MacArthur’s Grace Church, Phil Johnson posed a number of questions to Albert Mohler, Ligon Duncan, and Mark Dever. These are three of the most vocal proponents of the modern Evangelical social justice movement.

In response to one of Phil’s questions, Mohler admitted that Phil offended him and refused to engage in a meaningful discussion. He then lost his cool and flipped out. He proceeded to take a defensive stance on the pointed questions.

Observations of Albert Mohler’s Stance on Social Justice

Mohler and other proponents of the social justice movement have been under fire for several years. The movement, as predicted, has taken a sharp turn toward an unbiblical ideological push for wealth redistribution, cultural Marxism, and more. Mohler claimed during this event that he is “obviously” concerned with the direction of the movement. He seemingly acknowledged that some proponents draw their tactics from secular ideology. However, he bluntly stated that he would not be forced “in front of thousands of people” to acknowledge that he has to do it Phil Johnson’s “way.”

Mohler is responsible for placing many of the worst offenders of social justice into high ranking positions in the Southern Baptist Convention. He influenced Russell Moore for the head position of the Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission. He also presides over Jarvis Williams at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Mohler encouraged people to examine him and his positions for clarity. He asked people to consider the who he associates with as evidence for his position on social justice.
