Joyce Meyer Admits She’s Been Preaching A False Gospel, Sort Of

Joyce Meyer, the baritone-throated false prophetess and Word of Faith pastrix hurls heresy from every angle in her bamboozling ministry and worldwide conference appearances. But in a recent video she posted on Instagram, she admits that her prosperity gospel teachings have been, well, “out of balance.”

“I’m glad for what I learned about prosperity, but it got out of balance. I’m glad for what I’ve learned about faith, but it got out of balance,” Meyer said in the video. “Every time somebody had a problem in their life, [I thought] it’s because they didn’t have enough faith. If you got sick it’s because you don’t have enough faith. If your child died, it’s because you don’t have enough faith.”

“Faith is something God gives you that you need to use and release in your life. It’s a powerful force but it’s not just an automatic, you put your trust in God, you put your faith in Him,” Meyer explained.

Of course, since she continues to teach and preach the same nonsense, she’s still a false teacher and is still marked. (Be sure to also watch where Benny Hinn recently did the same thing.)

What I've learned about Joyce Meyers is that woman are very sensitive regarding her. When it comes to Joyce, many Christian women don't care if she teaches a true or false gospel, they don't care if she teaches heresy, all they know is that they enjoy her messages and are inspired by them. I will say this though, most of our women friends who swear by her are a bit weak on discerning the Word and sometimes have a distant understanding of some of its main precepts. I think this is a tool of satan to be able to fool… Read more »

{{ she admits that her prosperity gospel teachings have been, well, “out of balance.” }}

That may or may not be the case, but based on the quote in the article she says that what she was *learning* was out of balance, not necessarily what she was "teaching*. It's not clear to me from just that snippet.

There is NO PERFECT PREACHER! I have read multiple books by JOYCE MEYERS. She constantly (on every page) includes the scriptures. .She does her very best to explain them and teach us ways to apply or simply ask us to apply them. Every area that she had trouble in…she attempted to recover with GOD's help and show others how to do the same. She gives to orphanages and feeding the hungry. I believe that she believes EVERY WORD of the BIBLE as GODS WORD and she ENCOURAGES us to READ it for OURSELVES! It makes me mad that people are… Read more »

Lee you are so right. I am a woman of God but I also accept the Holy Word that tells me that I am a help-mate to my husband who is a pastor, not a woman pastor just by marriage. The sad thing about women who think that it is ok to assume authority in the church, feels that God is unfair to them by making us the "weaker vessel." I have no problem with being just what Father God made me to be. I know that I don't have to toot a horn to let people know that I… Read more »

I think it’s so very sad that Denise thinks that it is NOT ok for a woman to assume authority in the church?! I have had tremendous struggles in my life, however, I have always loved and believed in Jesus! I had known of Joyce and her teachings for years, but only recently began listening to her preachings, if she is a “false” teacher of the word then that is incredibly strong falsified words she teaches, since because of those teachings, I have given my life completely to the LORD JESUS, and since doing so, my life has changed dramatically… Read more »

Jesus will use a homeless man o. The streets if you will take and bare his cross. There are a lot of bad teachers, they mislead people and they actually only an entertainer. Not every preacher is a Christine and not everyone who professes to love the Lord are Christians. There are many false teachers and in II Timothy it talks about being a leader attending their flocks, they will be judged harder than the one who follows them.

Betty Brumley

Yes, there are false teachers, but you are assigning this name to the wrong people. Careful who you speak against. You can disagree with fellow Christians without labeling them”of the Devil”. The hypocrites in Jesus day said that He was of the Devil too. Hang on to your traditions too tightly and you may miss a mighty move of God. God bless!

Janice

Very well said! There will always be those that will claim someone is a "false teacher", but that doesn't make them one. A tactic of the enemy is to discredit those preaching God's word.

Ron

The mighty move of God is when we submit to His voice to lay down all of our idols, allowing Him to fill those voids with an overwhelming hunger and thirst to live in the prayer closet in His immediate presence, seeking His face, robed in the pure humility of Christ. That closet is filled with a love beyond comprehension or words and an intimacy so close and powerful, with rivers of tears, that He transfers more of His character into you, sculpting you even more precise into the nature of He and His Son. THAT is the mighty move… Read more »

Thankfully, God gave me the grace to see through her teaching, the first time a friend referred me to one of her books! Phew!

I see the problem here as Dichotomic thinking. Such thinking demands we put Meyer into the category of "good" or "bad"…. true teacher or false teacher….. thus people form neatly onto one side or the other. Not only is such thinking not true, but it is dangerous for those who hold to it and more profoundly brings passionate conflict between those who are supposed to be united! Driving this problem is another problem, that we might call intellectual laziness. Our natural self seems to want to simply trust and follow without testing what we have come to believe. We don't… Read more »

Kristin, I give praise and thanks to the Lord for the work HE HAS DONE in your life! I have to say a number of things in response to your comments.. 1) In defending Meyer you do so not on the basis of the things she is being criticised for (unscriptural teaching) but rather on your personal experience. It's not a good basis to defend any teacher 2) Your defense of Meyer also points to the defense of comparison of others, which is dangerous ground upon which to tread. We are not only not to compare but if we do… Read more »

Not part of this group, though I am a pastor, and I would like to maybe address some things you might consider. Just because someone quotes the written Word of God does not mean they believe it. Joyce Meyers is twisting the meaning of the Word, using it like the snake, Satan. She does 'good works' on the outside but that does not justify the corruption of the Scriptures. You are correct that the Pharisees were calling Jesus a blasphemer, which can be seen correctly as the worst kind of heretic; but they were the heretics. When they, the actual… Read more »

Absolutely beautifully put!!!! And we should test everything with the Word of God!!! Amen and God Bless us all!!!

Why is it false… ???? I've been watching her for years , and enjoy her sermons

WOW!!!!!!!! Looks like the ladies are pretty well divided on this issue. And why wouldn't they be? We're living in days when, rather than being transformed by the renewing of our minds (Rom.12:2), most in the churches are content to be (contrary to Scripture), CONFORMED THIS WORLD, …which means (if I'm allowed a play on words), they've been CONNED into FORMING their opinions about Scripture by what the WORLD finds popular and appealing. When Joyce M. first hit the stage, she was a rebel; she knew it and flaunted it with flare. She still is; although some of the flaunting… Read more »

And that's why you need to know your Bible. We're told that there will be false teachers and we're to be on guard. I liked Joyce Meyer's first couple of books because I found her personal story of surviving and forgiving abuse amazing. BUT, I soon realised that she speaks a lot of heresy, regardless of how much I enjoyed reading her story of overcoming. Her later books became a rehashing of old stuff with a bit extra added. Her teaching is all about getting stuff from God. Unfortunately, a lot of people love her and don't want to believe… Read more »

so as there is NO PERFECT LIFE AND A PERFECT WORLD

Chris

Why judge people that are preaching to people that they need Jesus? It’s so called Christians like yourself that make Christians look bad. When someone does what they feel God calls them to do yet u want to condem that person? Your day standing in front of God and explaining why u bad mouthed one of his children like your doing will come. The world is already against Christians yet the church condemns their own. I’ve listened to this lady for years and heart is in the right place. The Bible says you will know they are mine by them… Read more »
