“It is good for me that I was afflicted,
that I might learn your statutes.”
If you’re anything like me, you probably find that you recoil from pain.
God uses pain and adversity in our life. It is one of His tools He uses to
“It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”
God disciplines us to conform us into the image of His Son. God does not save us from our sin just to leave us in bondage to the power of sin. God washes us in this life and conforms us into His likeness.
When you feel the hand of God disciplining you God does not hate you. Rather that discipline is a sign of His love! God gives us hardships that we might become more reliant upon Him and learn more of His goodness.
Be encouraged today that if you have believed in the Lord Jesus Christ then you are a child of God. The Father loves His child and He will work on you through pain and hardship. He will form you into the image of the Son. Seek Him in His word and cling to His promises.
